The article considers the works of the sculptor I. Zommer and the painter A.P. Frizen — the Russian Germans. It is known that on August 28, 1941 the cruel Decree on eviction of Germans from the Volga region was issued. In November, 1941 the Russian Germans mobilized for the labor front created the labor army to maintain and develop the war industry in the east of Russia. I. Zommer and A. Frizen did not avoid this destiny. Unfair position of the Soviet Germans ended in 1956 when they got passports and the right of free movement about the country (except the right of return to the Volga region), the right to the higher education. So, the theme of the Great Patriotic War of 1941– 1945 attracted a big interest of the artists. To perpetuate the memory of the soldiers — countrymen, the sculptor I. Zommer created the memorial complexes and busts of heroes of the Great Patriotic War of 1941– 1945 in the territory of the region. The Artist avant-gardist A. Frizen made portraits of the repressed members of the labor army and veterans. A significant work in his oeuvre is the picture “Widows”. The work aims to show for descendants that the memory about the war of 1941– 1945 still exists in the works of artists. DOI 10.14258/izvasu(2016)4-28Downloads
